Training

We know that every organization is unique, so we have designed our training modules to be adaptable to meet the needs of your organization. We begin with collaborative conversation, and then apply our training process and approach to build a customized workshop. Our training is co-facilitated, participatory, and grounded in popular education approaches and designed to advance our understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion in learners and in your organization.

Our workshops can be facilitated online or in-person, and vary in length from 90 minutes, to a multi-day training. The trainings are customized to meet your organizational context and goals, and include the following themes:

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

How to identify and address inequalities using an EI lens. We’ll explore the specific challenges faced by people at the intersections of multiple oppressions, including women, girls and non-binary people. We’ll use a structural power analysis to plan for transformative action. We can customize your training to help you apply the EI lens in specific contexts, such as community health or municipal government.

Anti-racism and Anti-Oppression

Inclusive Facilitation

Designed for facilitators who want to deepen their understanding of EDI and apply these principles in their practice.

Research

We act as facilitators, moderators and researchers to support community dialogues and community-based research. These services are ideal for organizations who’ve developed their own content or who want to shape content with us.

For example, we facilitated a series of focus groups on the City of Ottawa’s Community Safety and Wellbeing Plan, summarizing the results in a report to help develop the second phase of the plan.

We look forward to discussing your research needs, and collaborating on research projects that will create impact for your organization and the communities you serve.

EDI Application

Creating change that has a lasting impact within your organization often means addressing issues, gaps, and opportunities at the day-to-day level. That can feel like a lot of work, but we’re here to help. We have particular expertise in helping organizations apply equity and inclusion principles and practices in their everyday work. This process can include:

  • Equity and inclusion assessments
  • HR and policy audits
  • Consulting and coaching (eg. how to develop an EDI committee)

Our highly collaborative process means that we work together with you as partners in developing new ways to evolve your organization’s EDI practices, and help create more caring and equitable workspaces.
